Advising Style
Freestyle, not free fall.
My advising style is flexible, candid, and student-driven. I work best with self-motivated students who take ownership of their research: take the lead in our discussions, be bold in sharing your ideas, ask for feedback, follow through on meeting TODOs, challenge my assumptions, stalk me home (okay, maybe not that last one), and most importantly, tell me when I am wrong. I will give you room to explore and be there whenever you need guidance or support, just as my advisors did for me.
The goal is not to follow instructions, but to grow into an independent researcher with your own taste and judgment. We take the work seriously.
Get in Touch
If you would like to work with me, send your CV and a brief description of your research interests (in your own voice, please; go easy on the AI polish) to
. Before we meet, please be ready to give a short presentation on at least one piece of your own work that you are proud of. It can be a research project, a system you built, or anything else that shows how you think.
If you do not have such a project yet, choose a piece of work by someone else that you genuinely admire and tell me what makes it interesting to you.
